Halifax Mooseheads have traded the major junior rights to 20-year-old forward Kevin Cormier to the Rimouski Oceanic, Mooseheads’ General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today.
Cormier, obtained from the P.E.I. Rocket via a trade in January, 2004, played in 130 games with the Mooseheads, scoring 18 goals with 16 assists while amassing 442 penalty minutes.
“We wish Kevin Cormier well and thank him for his valuable contribution to our hockey club over the last two seasons,” Patenaude said.
“We are happy we were able to trade him to the Oceanic, where he can play with his younger brother, Patrice”.
Mooseheads have also ceded their fourth round pick in the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft to the Oceanic, and will receive Rimouski’s second and third round selections in the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft in return.
